I’ve slowly been working my way through a pandem I’ve slowly been working my way through a pandemic to-do list - boring, tedious tasks that I was aways too busy to (or simply didn’t want to!) complete. ✨💪✨ This week I hauled an ancient computer tower, that’s been taking up space in my closet for 10+ years, to some pros to recover it’s dusty hard drive. 💾 To my delight, they were able to restore the majority of the contents - including some much loved images from my long since closed online children’s shop. This image is a portion of the shop header - an illustration by my long-time art crush @jencorace. You’ll thank yourself for spending some time on her newly revamped portfolio website - jencorace.com. ❤️

✨Pandemic babies have been some of the great joy ✨Pandemic babies have been some of the great joys over the last year.✨ My niece was born at the beginning of 2020 and I’m so grateful for her parents who made us feel a part of her first year with livestreams of playtime, bath time and bed time - and we can’t wait to hold her in person once we’ve been vaccinated. ❤️ A buddy of mine welcomed his first daughter last year and I stitched up this special hoop for her nursery door - vintage botanicals altered in Photoshop, printed on @spoonflower’s Linen Cotton Canvas and embellished with hand embroidery. Any little ones shine as bright spots in your life during the last year? ✨👶🏿👶🏾👶🏽👶🏼👶🏼✨

🎉 You know I love a good tangram and this piña 🎉 You know I love a good tangram and this piñata version of everyone’s favorite geometry puzzle has me (almost) loving math! It’s one of more than 100 family-centric DIY projects in The Handmade Charlotte Playbook. @HandmadeCharlotte is crackerjack at creating accessible, easy-to-assemble, aesthetically pleasing projects. ✨8 year old me would have memorized this book.✨ If you have kiddos - know that there is a lot of joy to be found in these pages. ❤️ #HandmadeCharlottePlaybook
So, it’s pandemic Super Bowl Sunday - which make So, it’s pandemic Super Bowl Sunday - which makes it the perfect day to STAY HOME. I’m solidly #TeamHufflepuff. Playing around with wool felt patches, adhering pieces with double sided fusible interfacing and detailing with simple embroidery stitches. Am I doing this sporting thing right? 😆🤷‍♂️
Ready for a quick, twisty tale? Once upon a time t Ready for a quick, twisty tale? Once upon a time there was an online learning platform called Craftsy that launched in 2010 and featured all manner of creative classes, In 2017 it was purchased by NBCUniversal and in 2018 the platform was rebranded with a new name - Bluprint. I was introduced to the folks at Bluprint through my connections at NBC, having been a contestant on their creative competition Making It. I ended up collaborating with them in 2019 to develop and film my class The Map Embroidery Sampler. ✨🗺✨ In the pileup of challenging news that was 2020, NBCUniversal announced that they would be closing down Bluprint - making the fate of all that hard work unknown. 😬 Well, in a wonderfully happy turn of events, the folks at TN Marketing swept in, negotiated a successful purchase and obtained the bulk of Bluprint’s video content. Huzzah! 😅🎉 Final twist? They’ve rebranded back to their original name - Craftsy.com where my class, and so many others, are now hosted and available for viewing. Whew! Follow all of that? 😴😆

I’m incredibly proud of this class and can honestly say that it’s the most fully realized, fleshed out video series I’ve ever offered. Six lessons, sixteen embroidery stitches, animated illustrations and beautifully designed and printable class materials - equalling almost and hour and a half of instruction. If you’re interested in the intersection of embroidery and storytelling, I invite you to follow the link in my bio and watch the class trailer on Craftsy.com ❤️ (End of story! 😜)
