The new year arrived more tenderly than we expecte The new year arrived more tenderly than we expected, asking us to say goodbye to our best girl. Neither George nor I had shared life with a dog in decades, and our choice to adopt a senior was made with intention—and returned to us in ways we could never have imagined. Bunny was a gift beyond measure. While the grief lingers in untidy drifts, our gratitude remains resolute.
Calling all lovers of love, history, and handcraft Calling all lovers of love, history, and handcraft! Friends, join me in celebrating Valentine’s season at @sonomabotanicalgarden with my workshop Embroidered Valentine Botanicals on Saturday, February 7. 🪡🌸💛

We’ll explore the Victorian pastime of floriography, then add color, texture, and charm to a chart of vintage floral illustrations chosen for their love-related symbolism. Instruction will cover core embroidery basics, essential stitches, and techniques for applying them to an original collage custom-printed on fabric.

The SBG community knows me as the Garden's Public Programs Manager, but I've also been a teaching artist for more than two decades - and am delighted to offer class as a cross-pollination of two worlds I love!

My first workshop of the New Year takes place at t My first workshop of the New Year takes place at the end of this month, Saturday, January 31st in the dreamy Northern California town of Healdsburg. Our focus will be a vintage 1940s handdrawn map of Sonoma County, packed with charm, kitsch and character. 🗺️ After digitally restoring portions of the image and updating the typography, I had this cartographic cutie custom printed on linen cotton canvas - making it ready for your embroidery embellishment. Find a link in my bio and in my IG Workshop Highlights. ✨🪡✨

Many of you joined me throughout Sonoma County for workshops with the Crafted at Appellation series in 2025 while their Healdsburg propertywas under construction. Now open and boasting a gorgeous Maker Room, I’m excited to offer local hands-on experiences at @appellation_healdsburg accompanied by Appellation’s chef crafted seasonal bites and local Sonoma County wines. And, if you’re traveling in from out of town, or wanting to treat yourself to a lovely staycation – it’s a beautiful place to stay in the heart of California wine country. ❤️

✨Happy New Year, friends! ✨ 2025 was a year of tr ✨Happy New Year, friends! ✨

2025 was a year of transition, adventure, and creative exploration, and I’m deeply grateful for your continued interest in and support of my work. I truly love developing and teaching hands-on projects—thank you from the bottom of my heart for joining me for public and private classes, virtual events, and public activations throughout the year.

In 2026, my public workshops will be a bit closer to home. January, February, and March classes—offered in partnership with wonderful collaborators like @appellation_healdsburg and @sonomabotanicalgarden are now listed on my website (you’ll see a live link in my Instagram bio; swipe left on this photo and I’ll show you how to find it!). There are also just THREE spaces remaining for my creative retreat, Well Crafted Sonoma, taking place this October in my Northern California hometown. I would love to have you join us. ❤️

🗓️ You may notice there are fewer workshops on the calendar this year, and that I’m traveling less. In early 2025, I accepted a new full-time position managing public programming at Sonoma Botanical Garden—an opportunity that allows me to help foster, support, and shape a vibrant calendar of community-focused programs celebrating this spectacularly special place. Much of my energy this year will be devoted to helping the Garden mount exhibitions and offer lectures, hands-on workshops, concert series, volunteer opportunities, holiday celebrations, and so much more.

If you live in California’s North Bay—or have plans to travel this way—I warmly encourage you to add the Garden to your itinerary and explore our public calendar for upcoming programs. I hope to see you there. 🌿 Here's to a brilliant, happy, healthy and creative year ahead for all of us. 😊
