The sampler features six photographs of vintage book covers beautifully printed on a generous fat quarter (18×22”) …

I’ll be stitching my way from California to Texa I’ll be stitching my way from California to Texas this fall, and offering my Embroidered U.S. Map Workshop at @oilandcotton in Dallas on Sunday, November 2. 🪡🗺️✨Follow the link in my profile for complete details and registration info.

Embark on an adventure that is equal parts handcraft and storytelling in which you’ll learn core embroidery basics, essential stitches and how to apply them to a beautiful 1906 map of the contiguous United States custom printed on a generous half yard of fabric. Commemorate your travels, celebrate your home state or stitch connections between you and your loved ones - instruction will help you explore all of the ways you can embroider your adventures in the “Lower 48”.

With less than two months to go before I welcome g With less than two months to go before I welcome guests to my hometown creative retreat, Well Crafted Sonoma, nearly every spare moment is joyfully devoted to preparations. Truly, assembling craft kits is one of my favorite parts of the process. And while I don’t want to spoil any surprises, I will be sending everyone home with several Sonoma County souvenir projects! 🪡📬❤️
You’re officially invited to join me at @papercr You’re officially invited to join me at @papercrownwaco for Acorn Roundabout on November 8 & 9  - a weekend of autumnal workshops with my delightful pal, Jenn McGlon of @noodleandlou.🍂

This fall marks my third seasonal trip to teach at Paper Crown, so in a celebratory move, Jenn and I are joining forces to offer a series of charming classes - that are basically the crafting equivalent of crispy crunchy leaves, the scent of oven fresh apple cider donuts, and an evening just cool enough to pull your favorite sweater out of storage. (Admittedly, we're a little worried that sets the bar TOO high—but it's motivating us to bring our A-game… which we always strive for!)

Expect a cozy, creative weekend as we dive into stitched linen lovelies, embossed copper cuties, punch needle poppets and embroidered anthropomorphic acorns (try saying that 10 times fast!), and so much more. We’d love to have you join us for the crafting, the camaraderie, and all the fall feels. Registration covers four full three-hour classes (two with Jenn and two with Robert) over the course of two days with light refreshments served. Find all of the details and sign up now online at papercrownwaco.com!
Well, yesterday was a lovely flurry of emails and Well, yesterday was a lovely flurry of emails and we filled our available spot for Well Crafted Sonoma. However, in an unexpected turn of events – we now have a new available spot. Second golden ticket! While we will miss our dear friend, who is now unable to join us – it opens the opportunity for someone new to complete our group in September. You'll find all of the retreat details at robert-mahar.com/sonoma, and if you have questions or think you would like to join us – please email me directly at maharcraft@gmail.com.

Re: this image! I've been experimenting with a new series of imagery for the retreat, playing with vintage photographs and autumnal themes – with the anticipation of being able to overdye the fabric and embellish it with embroidery. More to come!
Last fall, I crossed my fingers, took a deep breat Last fall, I crossed my fingers, took a deep breath, and opened registration for a dream project of mine—a creative retreat in my new hometown—and friends, it sold out in two days. It’s been the happiest focus of the past several months, curating programs and projects for a week of handcraft and camaraderie.

And now, in just under two months, we’ll be gathering at a little 1940s ranch tucked between rolling golden hills and vineyards to stitch and dye and craft and laugh and eat and drink… and I can’t wait. 🎉

So, today feels a little like a golden ticket day—because one spot has just opened up. ✨

If you think you might like to join us September 15–19 here in Sonoma, CA, I invite you to read all about the event at robert-mahar.com/sonoma. And if you’re interested, send me an email at maharcraft@gmail.com.

It’s genuinely a lovely group we’ve assembled, and welcoming one more will round it out perfectly. ❤️
