Wave your wand and say it with me, “Photographie Wave your wand and say it with me, “Photographie brodée!”

While everything said in French sounds a little magical, you’re more likely to transform these fabric photographs by wielding a needle and floss in my upcoming ✨Eerie Photographic Embroidery Workshop✨. On October 14 we’ll gather in the @m.lovewell classroom to explore ways of stitching costumes, props and a little bit of pixie dust into a series of favorite black and white vintage images + learn how to print your own family photos on fabric. Beginner friendly - experienced welcome! The link in my bio has all of the details. 🪡📸🖤 See you in Santa Ana!
Earlier in the year I taught a Victorian Pressed F Earlier in the year I taught a Victorian Pressed Flowers Workshop at San Francisco’s @conservatoryofflowers . A conversation with then student, and now new friend Beth, led to an invitation to tour the herbarium at the California Academy of Sciences where she works ( - the largest collection of vascular plants in the western U.S. It is the sixth largest collection in the United States!) Collection Manager Emily Magnaghi kindly walked us through the process of collecting, pressing, preserving, cataloguing and digitizing their plant holdings. ✨🌾✨ I loved every moment and wanted to share an incredibly quick snippet of our time together.

If you’re interested in exploring the Victorian approach to an herbarium, join me at the @sonomacommunitycenter on Sunday, October 8! We’ll be assembling flower presses to create collections from our own gardens, and then utilizing beautiful pre-pressed flowers to create imaginative works on paper (suitable for stationery or framing!) Link in bio! ❤️
There’s a delightful surprise element to marblin There’s a delightful surprise element to marbling. ✨ Despite best efforts to manipulate inks on the surface of a water bath, you’re never quite certain if the final print will resemble a pastel topographical map, the cross-section of a pyschedelic tree trunk or imagery from a candy-colored fever dream.

A new session of Japanese Paper & Fabric Marbling has just been added to the @m.lovewell workshop calendar for Saturday, October 14. This day of creative classes will be my only teaching engagement in Southern CA this fall! Seated will be limited in M.Lovewell’s beautiful Santa Ana classroom, insuring everyone has room to comfortably create. The magical link in my bio contains all the details! 🩵
