Let’s welcome autumn with a day of seasonal hand Let’s welcome autumn with a day of seasonal handcraft! In October I’m heading to Port Townsend, WA - a charming Victorian seaport town about two hours north of Seattle. Destination? The charming Bazaar Girls Yarn Shop & Fibre Emporium! Our afternoon project focuses on recreating fall and winter foliage from fabric. Learn to draft patterns from pressed leaves and then recreate wired and posable versions from linen cotton textiles. 🍂 Tie oak leaves to napkins on your Thanksgiving table, tuck fruiting holly under the ribbon of a wrapped gift, or hang a cluster of everlasting mistletoe in your doorway. What do a strawberry, a beachball and a reindeer h What do a strawberry, a beachball and a reindeer have in common? 🤔 Not much, unless they're all surprise balls! 🎊 Truthfully, this vintage party favor can be styled to look like anything! At it core, small treats and trinkets, jokes and candies are artfully concealed in hundreds of feet of crepe paper streamers and then decorated as elaborately or as simply as you like. Lucky recipients are showered with fun as they unroll their surprise balls, revealing the goodies you’ve selected, and creating a happy mess! It’s a gift and an activity all rolled into one. 📣 We're gathering in the classroom of Alameda's much loved @daisys_mercantile on Thursday evening, Sept. 26 for a Surprise Ball Workshop! It’s alive! I’ve Frankensteined my original qu It’s alive! I’ve Frankensteined my original quintet of Anatomical Embroidery Samplers into a sextet - printed on a single panel of fabric. The latest addition is a beautifully macabre medical illustration of a foot collaged with blooming belladonna (a.k.a. deadly nightshade.) I’m thinking the new set could be made into a garland just unsettling enough for Halloween season, but refined enough to perhaps be displayed year round. Can’t wait to get started on mine! 💀👂🏽🩻✋🫀🦶 The new format boasts a redesigned background with all six individual 12" x 12" samplers printed on a 36" x 24" piece of linen cotton canvas fabric. Two sets of printed guidelines are provided: heavier dashed cut lines to neatly separate the individual samplers and lighter dashed guidelines to hem the edges, should you so choose.
