Celebrate your home state, commemorate a recent road trip or stitch connections between you and your loved ones. We’ll explore all of the ways you can embroider your adventures in the “Lower 48” as we embellish a beautiful 1906 map of the contiguous United States custom printed on a half yard (27” x 36”) of cotton linen canvas.

Perfectly suited for beginners, instruction will cover embroidery basics and essential stitches. However, students with more embroidery experience are invited to join for a fun refresher course and the opportunity to stitch a large-format map. All materials (fabrics, embroidery floss, hoops and needles!) along with instructional diagrams are provided and included in the cost of the class.

Please note that this map is 100+ years old and some cartographic changes have taken place in the intervening years – however, the state borders and city names remain largely accurate. Cleverly designed with guides, you’ll find it easy to sew finished edges at home or wrap your map around a corkboard to pin photos of your friends, family and travels.

I’m also thrilled to be teaching a holiday workshop at the amazing Leanna Lin’s Wonderland in Eagle Rock! Deck the halls with something delicious this holiday season! Join me for an afternoon of clever crafting as we create plush donut ornaments for your holiday décor and gift giving. Using an ingenious construction technique, even the novice crafter will be able to make a beautiful batch of faux donuts in a variety of icing colors and toppings. Hang them on your tree, tie them to the tops of gift boxes, display them in your kitchen – even use them as pincushions. Each student will receive enough materials to create a delicious half dozen donut ornaments – sweetly packaged in a bakery box, of course!
