How to Make Wood Veneer Chain Garland

Materials:
Wood veneer edging*
Wood glue

Clothespins

Directions:
1. Take your roll of wood veneer edging and cut it into 8″ lengths.

2. Place wood glue on one end of an 8″ length and then bend around the opposite end, overlapping the two by about ½” to form a circle or link for the chain. Secure the two ends together by clamping them with a clothespin — this will keep the veneer from shifting and allow it to dry in place.

3. Place a second 8″ length of edging through your first link and then repeat the previous step by placing wood glue on one end of an 8″ length, bending around the opposite end, overlapping the two by about ½” to form a second link and securing the two ends together by clamping them with a clothespin. Repeat this process to make the chain garland as long or short as you’d like.

4. Allow the glue to dry for at least an hour or two — or according to manufacturer directions. Once dry, remove all of the clothespins and hang your garland!

Helpful Tips:

• Rolls of wood veneer edging come in various widths and are typically 25′ in length — which will make a garland chain about 5′ to 6′ in length depending on the size of your links.
• Wood veneer can be painted or stained to create a more colorful garland.
